The riveting subjects represent distinctive archetypes and portray pivotal states of being. We immediately relate to each subject and it triggers our own visceral internal dialogue. • Esteemed British art critic and historian from Oxford University Anthony Fawcett (renowned for his collaborations with iconic artists such as John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Andy Warhol) described Romeo’s non finito series as “extraordinary paintings” and said the following in his critique of Romeo’s work:

“[Romeo] has established a unique position in the art world with his digital portraits, which stare out at us with a deep sense of pathos. His signature blend of bright colors belies a nod to the Classical world of the Renaissance. Romeo’s paintings are a palimpsest for our troubled times and refreshingly allegorical, offering empty spaces for us to ‘write our own story’.”

  • Order of Australia Medal Recipient and Founder of the iconic TAP Gallery Sydney, Lesley Dimmick called the Montenegro series “intense” and said the following about the artist and his work:

“Romeo Varga, I believe, is one of the striking new artists of our time. His creativity is abundant & prolific. Romeo uses contemporary state of the art tools to demonstrate his highly skilled and technical draftsmanship. When one sees him in his process one can see how amazing his technical skills are and the power and quality of drawing ability he possesses. He is a maestro.”
